Premier League

Old Trafford: Manchester United will look to increase their lead in the league, when they take on the in-form team, Everton, at old Trafford, tomorrow. Manchester United is six points clear above Chelsea and Arsenal. Playing at home, United will be confident enough to widen the gap between them and the 2nd and 3rd placed team i.e. Chelsea and Arsenal respectively.

Manchester United takes on Everton tomorrow at Old Trafford on Saturday. Manchester would surely expect a win, but Everton are not an easy team to beat. The last time these two teams met, it ended in a 3-3 draw. Two late goals from Everton one in the 89th minute and one in stoppage time spoiled United’s party. Everton is playing handsome football, look confident and is in good shape. The last three games that Everton has played have resulted in 5 points which is indeed a good sign for the 7th placed team. They won their last encounter against Blackburn at home, winning the game 2-0.

On the other hand, Manchester United’s last encounter against Newcastle ended in a dull draw. “The way we played in the 2nd half, we must have scored at least a goal” says the United Midfielder, Michael Carrick. United felt they lost two crucial points. It was a game they should have won. Apart from the last game, United look the strongest in the league. They defeated their rivals Chelsea in both the Champions League encounter recently.

Talking about statistics, United have won 12 home games in a row. They have beaten Everton 14 times out of the 17 games played at Old Trafford, and have not lost a single match. United showcasing the best football this season, especially when playing at home and Everton will be wary of this. Manchester are at the top of the table with 70 points, bagging 20 wins, 10 draws and suffered only 3 defeat so far. On the other hand, Everton are placed 7th in the table with 47 points, including 11 wins, 14 draws and suffering 8 defeats so far.

But whenever the two teams have met, it has always been an exciting and worth watching encounter. Manchester United will look to increase the lead, whereas, Everton will look to continue their good form and move up the table. It will surely be a fascinating matchup between the two, and will be hard to predict who will emerge out as the winner tomorrow. United will look to move on from their previous disappointing encounter and Everton will be confident enough to match the Red Devils. It is surely going to be an important meeting for the Red Devils, as the pressure is mounting to win the Cup, with only 5 more games to go.

Match Date: 23th April.

Match Day: Saturday.

Sports have always been my first love and will continue to be for the rest of my life. Sports always attracted me. It is just within me. I always try to gain knowledge and update myself about recent happening in the sports world. Even before my exams had started, I started working on my writing skills and to my surprise I realised I was pretty decent in it. I was looking for some internship programme where I could sharpen and improve my knowledge and skills. I would really like to thank Sports Mirror for giving me this wonderful opportunity. I am really thankful for the faith they have shown in me, and I promise that I will make the most of this opportunity and contribute in the most effective manner.
