India has won only one World Cup to cherish till date; the 1983 wonder created by Kapil Dev and his team.
He has few tips and pep talks for the Indian skipper MS Dhoni. He yielded to the fact that the current team is more violent, wild and agile compared to the one which prevailed two decades ago and on top of it there was a catch statement made by Kapil Dev that despite the vigor among the team players, hard work should always come along side. He commented that the team should put a good effort in synchronizing with game throughout and with hard work, hardships go invisible. Without efforts the match would go insipid.
“The more you sweat in practice, the less you bleed in battle” the quote goes well in accord with his comments.
“I think the current team has more capable players than we had. Even if they fall short on the bowling and fielding fronts, the batting is strong enough to make up for the relatively weaker aspects.”
Very happy and filled with grace, Dev is comfortable with the batting line-up.
“As for his captaincy, Dhoni has all the traits of a good leader. He is bold and is not afraid of handling tricky situations. All in all, he has a lot of plus points.”
He wants the skipper to be like a lion when it comes to captaincy and ruthless when batting. At the end of the day ODIs are just a batman’s game. He wishes Dhoni to be as aggressive as he was in his early matches. Kapil Dev felt uneasy with few contemporary stylish tags for Dhoni and insists him to look strong and hard into the core. Impressed by his early matches and his ruthless way of handling the ball, he strictly feels that if the same style had been continued ODIs would have been a cake walk for India. Changing styles often infects the game and the tempo.
He boosts our boys that home-pressure should not be an excuse for any poor performance rather it should be a capsule of motivation. It is better than playing at South Africa or Australia as their pitches compliment to their performance, said the veteran.
Finally comes the icing on the cake, he was confident that the World Cup would be ours!
