Michael Clarke and Sachin Tendulkar have encountered against each other on the cricket fields so many times, but they have tremendous amount of mutual respect for one another. In a recent interaction with fans on twitter, the current Aussie Test skipper declared that the God of cricket is definitely one of his leading favorite cricketers from the game.
In fact, he posted several tweets during his communication with fans a few days back. The questions were diverse; some fans wanted to know about his injury while some others enquired him about his views on ousted English cricketer Kevin Pietersen. The question and answer session on the twitter was very interesting. It helped a lot of fans and cricket enthusiasts to sneak peek into the some of the interesting viewpoint of the 34-year-old classy batsman.
Michale Clarke’s cherishing cricket career:
- Clarke played 109 tests, scoring 8450 runs with 28 tons and 27 fifties at an average of 51.
- He also played 245 ODIs and scored 7981 runs with 8 centuries and 58 half centuries at an average of 45.
- He led Australia to 2 Cricket World Cup victories held in the year 2007 and 2015 respectively.
- His magical bowling figure of 6 for 9 (6.2 overs) against India in Mumbai during 2004-05 test session is still afresh in the minds of billion cricket fans. He is an extremely useful slow-left-arm bowler.
A cricket fan asked him to name top 5 greatest cricketers and he mentioned Warne, Lara, Tendulkar, McGrath and Kallis in his answer. However, he also revealed it later that Caribbean legend Brian Lara is his all time favorite cricketer. This makes it clear that amongst batsmen, his favorites (in order of preference) are Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar and Jacques Kallis.
As far as his favorite bowler is concerned, the New South Wales born cricketer mentioned several names, which makes it difficult to consider his favorite bowler. However, the name of legendary leg-break bowler Shane Warne might come on top. Clarke tweeted that Shane Warne is amongst the greatest cricketers he played the game alongside. Glenn McGrath is also his favorites. He further explained that Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan was the most difficult spin bowler he faced in his entire career.
Pup was also quick to add that Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar was the fastest bowler against whom he played the game. Albeit, he surprised everyone by saying that English all-rounder and legend Andrew Flintoff was the best bowler against whom he played cricket. Michael Clarke is currently in the Caribbean Islands to lead his side – Australia for a test series against West Indies.
