Ok, here is something to share just because it’s really cool and I am one of the proud winners of this contest and now a part of the international team visiting Siberia from 25th May to 28th May, 2018.
It’s actually a dream come true for me as you would probably agree with me on this one, winning an all-expenses paid trip to Siberia! Nornickel and Euronews brings you just that. At the end of May, the participants from different countries will go to the Arctic (above the 69th parallel) to participate in the “FOLLOW UP SIBERIA!” international cross-cultural project. Among other destinations that include Norilsk and Dudinka, the team will visit the Taymyr Peninsula – the northernmost part of the mainland of Eurasia. The team members will explore the modern infrastructure and sports facilities of Siberian cities and will witness the beautiful natural phenomena of the midnight sun and northern lights, as well as explore authentic customs by participating in a polar ceremony.
The trip includes a visit to the city of Dudinka to attend the Arctic Curling Cup 2018 and to meet some of the curlers. Arctic Curling Cup is the northernmost curling tournament in the world, a part of the Curling Champions Tour. Some of the best teams in the world will be ending this year’s season on arctic ice!
A once in a life time trip to Siberia!
What is Follow Up Siberia?
Follow Up Siberia is an international cultural programme – a joint venture from Nornickel and Euronews. The project provides an opportunity for people from all around the world to visit Siberia, connecting with each other and meeting local people. The project provides an opportunity for the participants to visit Siberian cities and get to know the cultural, educational and sporting traditions of this region prior to the 29th Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019. A youth analogue of the Olympic games – the University Sports Games or simply the Universiade – has been the second most important and representative complex international event on the world sports arena for more than 50 years.
Win A Trip to Siberia
Follow Up Siberia is currently holding a contest from April, 2018 through February, 2019 for a chance to win a once in a life trip to Siberia.
Only 10 winners will take part in the next three rounds of the “FOLLOW UP SIBERIA!” project, scheduled for August, October, and December 2018. The most active winners from those rounds will be invited back to attend the 29th Winter Universiades in Krasnoyarsk in March 2019.
To become a part of this exciting experience you should take a few simple steps:
- Shoot a video and/or take up to three photos covering the “Part of Siberia” topic, i.e. something connected with Siberia or reminding of its key cultural and historical objects but situated in your local community;
- Post these photos and/or videos on your accounts on any of the following social networks (one or more): Facebook, YouTube, Instagram or Weibo with the #FOLLOWUPSIBERIA hashtag. The posts should be accessible online until March 12, 2019.
The winners will be chosen using two criteria: likes and originality.
