Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) at home in a classic battle of equals on Thursday. SRH have won their opening game against Rajasthan Royals but Mumbai Indians have swallowed a defeat in their inaugural match against CSK this season.
As always, a battle between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad is poised to be a last over finish. For Mumbai Indians, good knocks from Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard are extremely essential to build some pressure for the home side. They will also expect some good bowling from young leg spinner Merkande who chipped in important wickets of MS Dhoni, Deepak Chahar and Rayudu in the IPL 2018 opener.
Team News for Sunrisers Hyderabad
If SRH win toss, then much will depend upon its batting mainstay Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson. Both are in good form and capable of playing big shots at ease. The southpaw had amassed 386 runs against MI which is the most by any batsman against men-in-blue.
SRH have some big names in their bowling department including the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddharth Kaul and others. Also, their spin department has leggie Rashid Khan who gets turns and spins even on a good batting track. Senior all-rounder and Bangla legend Shakib Al Hasan is also in SRH squad to rattle MI’s strong batting line up.
Team News for Mumbai Indians
The big worry for Mumbai Indians will be their bowling at the death overs. Bumrah, McLenaghan and Mustafizur Rahman have been too expensive in their last spells against CSK and failed to restrict Dwane Bravo from hitting those sixes. It eventually took the game away from them.
Hardik Pandya might miss Thursday’s math owing to an ankle injury but nothing has been confirmed officially as yet. Mayank Merkande, the mystery spinner, will be crucial against SRH. If he gets the rhythm at slow track in Hyderabad, then SRH might be in trouble. Pandya brothers will have to rise up to the occasion to win this match for fans and team. Both are capable all-rounders and Skipper Rohit Sharma has some big hopes from them.
