Mumbai Indians (MI) are definitely trying to win against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a high-voltage clash tonight at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Both Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians are having some tough time this year. While RCB have got just a single win from three matches that they played so far, MI won none in their last three outings.
Despite having big names in their kitty, both MI and RCB have failed to match up to the level of expectation of fans and people this season. To some extent, MI’s inability to hold nerve at death overs is a serious matter to ponder over. MI have lost against both CSK and DD at the death overs. Inconsistent form of Mumbai’s bowlers is seriously affecting the performance of both sides.
For RCB, Umesh Yadav’s success with the ball against Punjab didn’t continue against Royals leading to their downfall. If RCB really wish to beat MI then good bowling from Umesh Yadav and Chahal is the need of the hour.
For Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah’s not-so-well bowling is really making things difficult. Bowlers have to bowl really well against the mighty RCB if MI seriously wish to win tonight at home.
Team News for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
Good news for RCB is the fact that Virat Kohli has regained his form. He hit a well-crafted 57 against Punjab that clearly indicated his returning back to form. Also, they have a good batting unit with the likes of A B de Villiers, Quinton De Cock, McCullum and Sarfaraz Khan among others.
Apart from their main strike bowler Umesh Yadav, a lot will depend upon how Pawan Negi and Chahal utilize their spells. MI have quality batsmen who are capable of playing big against the turn. So, overall this match is evenly poised between Mumbai’s batting and RCB’s spin bowling.
Team News for Mumbai Indians (MI)
The biggest plus point for MI this season is the invention of their mystery leg spinner Mayank Markhande. He has a good economy rate along with a knack of picking wickets at important times. Mustafizur Rehman is also bowling well this season.
Mumbai’s batting is expected to see some dramatic change in batting order. Like the previous match, Suryakumar Yadav will be promoted up the order. Also, Rohit Sharma and Pandya Brothers – Krunal and Hardik – will have to play big knock tonight to put pressure on RCB. Once again all eyes will be on Keiron Pollard as crowd always expects six sixes from him in each over!
