The Indian Premier League 2018 (IPL 2018), Match 3, will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday live at 8PM onwards at Kolkata’s historic Eden Gardens. After a lot of seasons, KKR will play under a new skipper.
Wicket-Keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik will lead Kolkata team this year to the best of his capacity. Of late, Dinesh Karthik has got some unprecedented fame owing to his blitzkrieg knock of 29 of 8 balls against against Bangladesh last month that saw India winning Nidahas T20I Tri-series final and trophy by four wickets.

Interestingly, RCB has also got a new and skilled leadership with Brendon McCullum at the helm. The Kiwi veteran will lead the side for the first time. Indian skipper Virat Kohli will represent the team normally as a batsman. It is interesting to point out here that for the last few seasons, RCB has failed to clinch any single edition despite playing really well. So, RCB is trying its luck with a new leadership this season.
Team News for Royal Challengers Bangalore
This season, RCB has a full scope of winning the tournament, and etched its name in golden letters as IPL Champions. The team has some big names like Kohli, Quinton De Kock, Sarfraz Khan, Manan Vohra and others. Also, it has a good bowling combination of Chris Woakes, Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee as lead fast bowlers.
Famed all-rounders like Corey Anderson and Grandhomme will also add cushion to RCB’s bench-strength. They can double up as batsmen or bowlers depending upon the team’s requirement. RCB is definitely eyeing to start the IPL 2018 with an emphatic win over KKR at the latter’s home in city of joy.
Team News for Kolkata Knight Riders
The biggest worry for KKR is the absence of star Aussie fast bowler Mitchell Starc. Vinay Kumar and Mitchell Johnson are expected to lead the KKR’s fast bowling charge. Also, KKR will have good spinners in the side including the likes of Kuldeep Yadav and Sunil Narine. Both have equally enjoyed enormous success for their respective teams at international matches in recent times.
As far as batting is concerned, Dinesh Karthik, Chris Lynn and Andre Russell are some big names who will lead KKR’s batting unit at IPL 2018. If KKR wins Sunday’s big clash then certainly it will boost the confidence of newly elected KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik. The experienced wicket keeper is expected to take Kolkata to a greater height this season.
