The gala Sunday is back. Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will face Delhi Daredevils (DD) at Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium in Mohali. This year, KXIP have built their squad in a very tacit manner retaining only a few old players including the all-rounder Axar Patel to its fold apart from David Miller, Marcus Stoinis and Mohit Sharma – the rest of the players will be new faces representing Punjab.

Stakes are running high this year as DD have never won an Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament until now since the tournament’s inception. So, DD’s team selection for this year is quite unpredictable. Delhi’s star powers include swashbuckling openers like Gambhir and Munro while its sensible middle order comprises of the likes of Pant, Shaw and Iyer.
DD’s performance will also depend upon how Kagiso Rabada negotiates with the opponent batsmen in the initial overs. Also, it is expected that Mohammad Shami will be fit to play Sunday’s match. A few weeks back, he suffered a deadly car accident near Dehradun.
Trent Boult’s performance will also play a crucial role in Sunday’s clash. Ever difficult-to-play Amit Mishra is all-set to scare the KXIP batsmen with his googlies and leg spin. Mohali’s pitch is expected to help to Mishra to get good turns on and off.
