The IPL Auction: The overseas picks this season

Overseas players in their side are going to play a massive role in the side’s success for sure. Surely, the owners must be under pressure. The fans, well, without doubt, must be hoping that the side they support should get the best ones aboard for the success in the 11th edition of the league.

As the tournament enters the 11th edition, let’s just remind ourselves about the last IPL. It was Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians which came out victorious after they won the crunching finals against Rising Pune Supergiants.

Now, let us talk about this edition. Well, before the mega auctions, and eventually the final showdown, we had a glittering retention program where all the sides used their opportunities to retain few of their star players who have performed for the side consistently. Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings, the two banned teams are also making their return this season.

Now, let us talk about few top overseas players of this season’s IPL who can do wonders for their side. Let us start with the

Chris Gayle: The mighty West Indian was surprisingly not retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. On his days, even an out of form Gayle can demolish the best of bowling attacks of the world. Gayle can be. The 38-year-old Gayle has hit the most number of centuries and sixes in T20 cricket than anyone else in the world and that makes him a very interesting pick for any side.

Chris Lynn: The Australian batter is known for his monstrous sixes during the Big Bash League. Lynn had a blistering start to his IPL last season with the KKr but a shoulder injury kept him away from the game. If fit, the Aussie can tear apart any bowling lineup with his brilliant hitting abilities.

Ben Stokes: The star all-rounders career is in a mess at the moment. His off-field antics have done no good to the talented England all-rounder. Last season, Stokes was named as the MVP of the season. There are still dark clouds on his participation as he has been charged by the police for his involvement in a fight outside a pub in Bristol. South Africa born Stokes can be a huge asset for any side because of his brilliant all-around abilities.

Colin Munro: The Kiwi opener is enjoying massive success at the moment. The star opener is in form of his life at the moment and has been tormenting apart the bowling lineups of all the sides. Munro recently hit a T20 hundred against West Indies as he smashed the bowlers every corner of the park. Munro can roll his arms as well If needed which makes him a bigger asset. The side’s search for a devastating opener might end once they have this Kiwi player on their side.

Rashid Khan: The 19-year-old Afghan player was the highest wicket-taker for his side Sunrisers Hyderabad. The leggie is currently foxing the batters in Big Bash League. He can fetch huge amount for his brilliance with the ball. No sides would shy away paying the amount for this hugely talented player.

Mitchell Starc: The Aussie was in red-hot form during the recently concluded Ashes series. Although Starc has given the IPL a miss in the last 2 seasons, he can still be a terrific player to have on your side. His pacy deliveries won’t be easy to put away for any batters around the world.

These are a few top overseas players who can shift the momentum of the game single-handedly. The bidding war will be an interesting one. Let us see which way these stars go. Well, wherever they go, the IPL it looks like will be a massive one for sure.
