India vs New Zealand 2017: 1st ODI at Mumbai, Live Cricket Score

Indomitable team India is ready to quash the Kiwi’s challenge, as both India and New Zealand are ready to clash against each other at the forthcoming 3-ODI series starting this Sunday. Amidst the festive season, Indian cricketers are ready to produce another blistering performance, and elevate team India’s ranking from number two to number one position after this series.

Last year, New Zealand’s tour of India was quite disappointing. India whitewashed them 4-0 before winning the ODI series 3-2. In a recent press brief, India’s star batsman Rohit Sharma stated that they had not formulated any special strategy yet but India is likely to quell any team that comes before them.

India’s dashing opener also gave the credit to entire team for India’s recent fantabulous performances – winning six consecutive series in a row. Last month, India beat Australia quite comfortably in the series 4-1. Similarly, Kohli-led India also smashed the West Indies 3-1 and Sri Lanka 5-0 at their own backyards demonstrating the team’s complete domination in overseas tours as well.

Team News for India

India did not lose any series for the last one and half years. In the preceding months, India beat Zimbabwe, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Australia in a devastating manner.

No chase is too big for the confident men-in-blue. Similarly, India are also adept at winning low-scoring matches, thanks to some magnificent bowling spells from Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Axar Patel, Bumrah and others. Interestingly, their spellbound bowling has now literally shut the door for India’s mainline test bowlers like Ashwin, Jadeja, Shami and Umesh Yadav.

In cricket only the result maters, and the current bunch of India’s ODI bowlers are doing exceedingly well. Therefore, any new change in team squad is totally uncalled for. Indian batting is also perfectly poised. Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan are likely to open the innings for India in the bilateral series against New Zealand. Rohit Sharma might come at number 3 to be followed by Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni at number 4 and 5th spot respectively.

Team News for New Zealand

Kiwi batsman Tom Latham gave a glimpse of his form by hitting a spectacular century in the final warm-up tie against Board president’s XI beating the hosts by 33 runs in Mumbai. Latham’s awesome knock of 108 of 97 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes is still afresh in the minds of the fans. He is ready to take on India’s spinners and play some good knocks in the coming days.

Certainly, if the opening pair of New Zealand, Martin Guptill and Colin Muroe gets some rhythm at the start then it could be costly for team India. Both are the destructive batsmen and know how to accelerate run-rate against quality bowling attack in the first 15 overs.

Kiwi veteran Ross Taylor is also going to play a key role in the series. He hit a sensible ton against the board president’s XI, and clearly reflected his flawless ability to make a good contact with the bat. Captain Kane Williamson, as always, is an asset for any team. His all-round performance will be also a key to New Zealand’s success in India tour.
