But he was barred from opening the bottle as Sachin was under 18 at that time. British rules don’t permit anyone to consume liquor below 18. The then match referee Mike ordered 1-year-suspension to Sachin along with several other punishments to five more Indian cricketers. However, the order was later reversed following massive hue and cry from ICC to BCCI. TV replays clearly showed that Sachin Tendulkar was actually cleaning the ball with his finger that is fully legal.
