What is the IPL?
Indian Premier League (IPL) is the most exciting Twenty20 cricket tournament. The 10th season of IPL will be starting from 5th April 2017 and will be ending on 21st May 2017.
The 2017 IPL is sponsored by VIVO and will have the opening game and grand final played in Hyderabad, the home of the reigning champions.
The same eight teams from 2016 are returning to play across ten venues including stadiums in Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Indore, Mohali, Hyderabad, Kanpur and Rajkot.
The teams competing are Delhi Daredevils, Gujarat Lions, Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Rising Pune Supergiant, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The top four teams from the league will then go into a play-off which will determine the finalists and eventual winner.

The first tournament was in 2008, which was won by Rajasthan Royals but the most successful sides are Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians who have all won the tournament twice.

When does the VIVO IPL 2017 season start, and where can I watch matches?
The first game of the competition is on April 5 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In India, Sony Six, Sony Max, Sony ESPN have the broadcast rights to show the games. Last year the ninth edition of the contest reached a viewership of 335 million and they will be expecting another increase on that.

United Kingdom: Sky Sports and ITV4 to cover majority of IPL matches in the UK
USA: ESPN has the broadcasting rights in the USA but US viewers can only watch live IPL through ESPN’s digital platforms and they have to buy ESPN Cricket pass to watch live costing $30 a month subscription
Canada: SportsNet cover IPL matches in Canada.
Australia: Channel ONE might broadcast IPL 2017 season but it’s not confirmed yet. As parent network company “Network Ten” has yet to announce any details for upcoming season.
South Africa & other African countries: SuperSports has been broadcasting IPL in South Africa and other sub-Sahara African countries since the start of IPL. They will continue to broadcast live action of IPL in African region.
New Zealand: Sky New Zealand has the broadcasting deal with IPL and they will continue to broadcast in New Zealand.
Pakistan: Geo Super will broadcast IPL matches in Pakistan.
Sri Lanka: Carlton Sports Network has the IPL rights since 2012 and this season they will cover the matches live in Sri Lanka as well.
Bangladesh: Maasaranga TV.
Afghanistan: Set Max & Sony Six.
Caribbean Islands: SportsMax will continue this coverage in Caribbeans in 2017 IPL season.
Singapore: StarHub & Singtel.
Malaysia & Brunei: Measat (Astro).
