The 15th edition of Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm, one of the most awaited motorsport rallies in the country has completed its fourth leg. The rally’s leg 4 was concluded at Jaisalmer, with participants covering a total distance of around 300 KM.
Maruti Suzuki’s Desert Storm, also known as the mini Dakar rally will take place in four categories – XTreme, NDure, Xplore and Moto, enabling enthusiasts to use vehicles of their choice, suitable to the corresponding terrain and format.
Team Maruti Suzuki’s Suresh Rana with co-driver Ashwin Naik, Nikunj Toshniwal with co-driver Suvrajit Dutta, Karthick Maruthi with co-driver Sankar Anand and CS Santosh were leading the fouth leg of rally in Xtreme, Ndure, Xplore and Moto categories respectively.
In the third leg of Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm, the 300 kilometers journey saw the rallyists navigating through dust and toil in a bid to complete the expedition. The fourth day proved to be an interesting start for the rallysts as they found the depth of their driving abilities while overcoming the challenging sand dunes to grab the winning position.
In the Xtreme category, Suresh Rana with co-driver Ashwin Naik was leading the rally, followed closely by Team Maruti’s Niju Padia with co-driver Nirav Mehta at the second place and Sandeep Sharma with co-driver Karan Arya was at the third place.
In the Ndure category, defending champions Nikunj Toshniwal with co-driver Suvrajit Dutta, once again, was leading the rally, followed closely by Arpit Gupta with co-driverT Nagarajan at the second place and Suresh Kumar Dudi with co-driver Rajith Purusuthman was at the third place.
In the Xplore category, defending champions Karthick Maruthi with co-driver Sankar Anand, once again, was leading the rally, followed closely by Rajesh Chalana with co-driver Satish Gopal Krishnan at the second place and Ali Asgar with co-driver Mk Mohd. Musthafa was at the third place.
In the Moto category, Hero MotoSports Team Rally rider CS Santosh retained first position followed by R Nataraj and Sanjay Kumar who were at the second and third position respectively.
The Jaisalmer leg included the famous night leg of 150km which made its 3rd appearance in this year’s #MSDesertStorm and tested the mettle of the riders, faced the additional challenge of driving in the darkness.
The fifth and final leg of the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm takes competitors around 500km towards Jodhpur (the concluding point).
