New Zealand finished the T20 International (T20I) series against Bangladesh on a high note as they beat the visitors by 27 runs and clinch the series with 3-0. Playing at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui on Sunday. New Zealand did a fabulous job with the bat putting up to 194 with a loss of four wickets and did a commendable job with bowling too and restricted Bangladesh at 167 with a loss of six wickets. It was a combined team effort from Kane Williamson, Corey Anderson, Trent Boult and Ish Sodhi that sealed the victory for Kiwis. For Bangladesh Rubel Hossain, Shakib Al Hasan, and Soumya Sarkar shined despite the loss.
Corey Anderson in 2014 hit the fastest ODI century just off 36 balls. In second week of 2017 he threatened to varnish with the fastest T20I century. He didn’t quite have the time for that and so had to settle for the record for the most sixes by a New Zealander in the format in an unbeaten 41 ball 94 runs that setup a clean sweep of 3-0 of Bangladesh in Mount Maunganui.

Anderson was involved in another New Zealand record with his captain Kane Williamson as they added 124 runs for the fourth wicket. Williamson completed his second half century in three innings and bought New Zealand to a decent score as New Zealand were 41 for 3 in 6.1 overs. With Anderson’s 94 at end the total came up to 194 with a loss of 4 wickets.
In reply Bangladesh started amazing with a 44 run opening stand, but they could not sustain it as there was just too many runs to chase. Rubel Hossain was the only bowler who took 3 wickets and was able to restrict New Zealand to 41 for 3 temporarily.
As Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl the visitors failed to suppress the batting and bowling of New Zealand which ended in losing the game and the series. For Bangladesh Soumya Sarkar (42) and Shakib Al Hasan (41) were the star performers in terms of batting and rest of them failed as the run chase was high.
New Zealand 194/4 in 20 overs (Anderson 94 n.o., Williamson 60) beat Bangladesh 167/6 in 20 overs (Sarkar 42, Al Hasan 41; Sodhi 2/22, Boult 2/48)
