Held on Sept 1st, The Outstanding Speakers’ Bureau (TOSB) Twinterview consisted of sports panelists such as Mark Gallagher (Public Speaker on F1 race), Shayamal Vallabhjee (Sports Scientist), Vishwanathan Anand (Indian Chess Grandmaster & World Chess Champion) Praskash Iyer (Former MD Kimberley Clark & CEO of IPL’s Mumbai Indian Team) and Micky Mehta (Fitness Mentor of Bollywood industry).
An hour long twitter interview, it highlighted what all life lessons you can learn from sports, mind games and fitness.
That being said, let’s discuss how sports can make a difference in your life:
#1 – Be punctual
A person who doesn’t value time cannot succeed in any field whatsoever. Just like athletes who give utmost importance to their play and never fail to show up on field, you also need to focus on what you’re doing and be punctual come what may.
#2 – Show respect to others
Not only sports but if you’re into a corporate world, you need to work like a team. And, for teamwork you need to respect everyone who you’re working with. So, instead of bossing around at the office, you should form a strong relationship with them for the ultimate success that awaits you.
#3 – Prepare yourself well
Well, you can’t succeed in anything if you don’t prepare yourself for it. Be it sports or an engineering exam in which you want to score good marks, you really need to work hard to make it happen.
#4 – Never give up
Remember losers give up. Just like athletes never give up even after their defeat, you also need to be focused towards your goal and never give up till the end. Just keep working hard and one day you’ll definitely get success!
#5 – Be passionate
As passion is powerful, teams with great passion sometimes outperform seemingly stronger sports teams. So, unleash the passion in whatever work you do and you’ll definitely give your 100%.
#6 – Take risks
At times risk-taking can be fruitful. So, whether you’re into a big league management team or an individual, taking risk with other’s innovative and disruptive ideas can be your key to success.
#7 – Evaluate risks
Now, that you’ve taken risks, it’s better to evaluate those risks in real time just like sportsperson do. If you want to know if a promotion strategy would work, then go out and get feedback in the real market.
#8 – Keep a positive attitude
Never do anything with an attitude that it’s difficult but vice versa. That would make things easier and solutions simple.
#9 – Turn negative into positive
If you come across a negative situation then try to convert it into an opportunity just like athletes do.
#10 – Have Self discipline
Nothing can work in your favor if you don’t have self discipline. Be patient, punctual and do your work with 100% dedication.
#11 – Be committed
An extension of previous point, just be committed to writing if you are a writer…don’t leave it.
#12 – Be righteous and ethical
Whether you are playing a game or a business owner, be righteous and ethical in your dealings.
#13 – Accept responsibility
Accept responsibility of your actions instead of blaming others. While this shows true sportsmanship, it also shows that you are responsible towards what you do!
