So it’s finally done. Jose Mourinho is finally the manager of Manchester United, ending almost half a year of speculation. The Devil himself is now at the home of the Red Devils.
While there may be questions raised about his character and his brand of football, there’s no denying the fact that Mourinho is a world class manager with a proven record across Europe, and is easily the best available manager at the moment.
Winning the Champions League with relatively weaker squads while at Porto and Inter, Mourinho might just be the solution that Manchester United have been looking for since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. United’s biggest problem has been a loss of identity and a winning mentality; an attitude where coming second wasn’t acceptable and a ruthless Mourinho might just be the fix to bring back the glory days at Old Trafford.
With no Champions League football in the upcoming season, Jose can solely focus on the Premier League, a trophy he’s won thrice with rivals, Chelsea and there’s nothing that would satisfy the United faithful more than a Premier League trophy. Jose averages a title every 34 games and his points per game average is the best in the Premier League.
Mourinho inherits a squad that has just won the FA Cup and has a bunch of youngsters that have graduated from the academy. Is he the right man for the job or not, only time will tell, but you can definitely call it a risk worth taking after three years of disappointment.
As a Manchester United supporter, all you can do is embrace the situation, accept the man and hope he takes the club to new heights, something that we had become so accustomed to during the Ferguson era!
Jose Mourinho’s Red Army!
