New Delhi, 3rd April, 2016: Delhi Dynamos FC in association with Indian Super League today conducted its grassroots scouting festival for the Reliance Foundation Young Champs Programme. The Dynamos kicked off their grassroots programme for 2016 with an open trial on Wednesday (March 30) which saw a whopping turnout of over 350 people out of which they shortlisted about 120 kids. These shortlisted kids took part in the final round of selections held earlier today at the New Willingdon Ground, Chanakyapuri.
At this festival, the coaches from Delhi Dynamos FC, along with coaches appointed by the ISL, selected the best talent. The top 110 players selected from the open trials along with further scouted players from the Club’s various grassroots initiatives formed the cream of the talent for the festival. The trials were jointly conducted by Delhi Dynamos coaches and Reliance Foundation Young Champs Coaches in assistance with their team of Elite Coaches.
The trials also saw Robin Singh, one of the biggest assets for the Delhi Dynamos team last season. The ace striker was seen interacting and encouraging the children present at the event. The striker also interacted with every aspirant giving them tips to improve their game.
Based on the performance, the final selection of talented players from today’s event will head to Mumbai along with their counterparts from 7 other Hero ISL teams to take part in the final selection camp where they will stand a chance to be selected for the Reliance Foundation Young Champs Programme.
Prashant Agarwal, President – Delhi Dynamos FC, said: “We very proud to conduct the Delhi leg of the Scouting Festival for Reliance Foundation Young Champs successfully. The immense quality on show is a result of immense scouting through our clinics, festivals and many other such initiatives. I am sure after seeing the talent and enthusiasm of our young Dynamos, Delhi would have a great representation in The Reliance Foundation Young Champs residential scholarship programme. This festival is also very crucial as it serves as the platform to kick start the grassroots initiatives for ISL 3. We are launching academies in several parts of the city with an elite academy in Greater Noida which would be up and running by August this year. We are also opening up an elite residential academy with world class facilities and infrastructure in Ekana, Lucknow later this year.”
Robin Singh, Player – Delhi Dynamos FC, said:“It is amazing that Delhi Dynamos is doing so much for aspiring footballers in North India. I wholeheartedly support the multiple initiatives launched by the Club. It is a great pleasure to see the drive and zeal in all the kids and I am sure this will allow them to reach great heights.”
