Mumbai, March 2: Defending champions U Mumba with a record tenth straight win finished on top in the league phase of the Season 3 Star Sports Pro Kabaddi at the NSCI Dome today. They easily beat Dabang Delhi K.C. 36 -20 to total 60 points and push Patna Pirates (58) to second place. In the semis U Mumba play Bengal Warriors and Patna Pirates take on Puneri Paltan on Friday in New Delhi.
Dabang K.C. Delhi who hadn’t fares well this season preferred not to field their stalwarts Kashiling Adake, Surjeet Singh and Ravinder Pahal while U Mumba wanting to keep the winning momentum going came up with their full squad.
Only Fazel Atrachali who had a tremendous showing under his belt wasn’t there in the first seven ceding his place to Surender Nada a regular before he went on national duty. As expected U Mumba were quickly into their stride and Rishank Devadiga was making inroads in the rival defence. He with five raid points and Anup Kumar with four put the hosts in the driver’s seat with a 15-8 lead at the break. Only the lanky Selvamani K did something of note for Dabang Delhi K.C. He had four raid points then.
U Mumba inflicted the impending all-out in the 22nd minute on their rivals to further tighten their grip. The one –way traffic continued with the champions scoring the second all-out by the 35th minute despite resting Rishank Devadiga. There were flashes of individual brilliance from young Sandeep Dhull of Delhi. He super tackled rival stars Rakesh Kumar and Anup Kumar once each. Selvamani K continued his good work to end with 6 points.
For U Mumba the corner pair of Surender Nada and Mohit Chhillar was back in form giving U Mumba coach E Bhaskaran another option for the knockouts after having judged the capability of Fazel Atrachali. The pair ended with four tackle points each. It was a good ending for U Mumba the only team to win all its matches at home this season.
