Dehradun, 12th February, 2016: Wrestling fans can now bear witness to the return of their favourite wrestler The Great Khali in action for the first time ever on Indian soil. Tickets for The Great Khali Return Series have gone on sale with ticketing partner bookmyshow.com. This initiative by the World Champion is on the sidelines of his newly opened academy Continental Wrestling Entertainment and is being organized, conceived and designed by #CM4Youth, a youth outreach program and The Bhartiya Samajik Sewa Sansthan, an NGO entrusted towards imparting education to underprivileged children.
Speaking at the time of launch of this event, Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister, Shri. Harish Rawat said, “At the risk of sounding redundant, I continue to maintain that the youth is not just our future but the present also. We have also noticed that youngsters have a fatal attraction towards substance abuse which is an alarming concern for us. Hence, Khalimania is one of the initiatives to kick start the wave of sports fever in the state ahead of National Games 2018.”
The first edition of Khalimania has signed one of India’s largest charitable foundations, The Hans Foundation & The Hans Cultural Centre as a title sponsor. Corporate House Minda, Sports Ministry have also partnered with the event.

Commenting on this one of a kind event in Uttarakhand, the Great Khali said, “It has always been my dream to popularise pro wrestling as a sport in India and provide a world class platform for the budding grapplers to show their prowess and enhance their skill and art. Uttrakhand has given me an ideal platform to do so and I assure the people of the state will not be disappointed.”
Not only is bookmyshow.com enabling online sales for the big bout but it is also setting up ticketing booths for offline sales at 15 locations in Dehradun and Haldwani. Offline booths will also be set up in Rishikesh, Nainital and Haridwar.
Ticket price for the general stand starts with Rs.1000 and Rs. 10,000 for the premium sitting, which is close to the ring. To popularise wrestling as a sport amongst the youth, the student body can enjoy a 50% discount on the Rs. 1000 ticket by showing their id at the time of booking.
Indira Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Gaula Par, Haldwani will be hosting the tournament on the 24th February, and Rajeev Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Raipur, in Dehradun will be hosting the same on the 28th February, 2016. The event is being executed by Om Reels entertainment and the fights will witness around 18,000-20,000 spectators at each venue.
