Jaipur, February 23: Leaders Patna Pirates carried too many guns for hosts Jaipur Pink Panthers whom they beat 47-24 after leading with a massive 27-5 margin at the break. The hosts who were in dire straits due to the injury of lead raider Jasvir Singh didn’t have Sonu Narwal the other big player today which effectively quashed their chances of making the last four of Season 3 Star Sports Pro Kabaddi. Patna Pirates still remain on top with 52 points in 12 matches and Jaipur Pink Panthers with 25 in the same number of matches stay in sixth place.
Having come to the match knowing fully well that they were short on ammunition the hosts were in trouble as early as the sixth minute conceding the all-out without scoring a single point. Rohit Kumar the man from the Navy was to steer the Patna ship with 14 points in the match did all the damage.
The next all-out also came in quickly in the 11th minute. It was Pardeep Narwal’s turn to torment his opponents. The lead was widened to 19-1 and the losers were lucky not the third all-out which they did immediately after the break to race further to 30-5 and all that was to happen thereafter was for both teams was to go through the motions. Even then the relentless pace took its toll on the losers.
The fourth all-out in the 27th minute with the score reading 40-6 must have made the home team supporters wonder whether their team would get into double figures. That did happen as the Patna Pirates relaxed their grip on the match. Rajesh Narwal helped himself to 10 points but that was late in the match when all was over.
It was team work for Patna Pirates as the scores would indicate. Sandeep Narwal picked up 10 points in defence and the others who did well in that department were Hadi Oshtorak (4) and Sunil (3). Manpreet the skipper and Pardeep with 4 raid points each also impressed in the big win.
