NEW DELHI – An annual tradition, Chevrolet honors 11 children with a once-in-a-lifetime experience by participating as mascots in a Manchester United football match at Old Trafford stadium.
This year, as part of its Beautiful Possibilities Program, Chevrolet is conducting a contest to find the 11th member of Chevrolet’s “Starting XI” who will take to the pitch hand-in-hand with their Manchester United heroes at the start of the 2016/2017 season.
“Our Chevrolet mascots embody the spirit of play and through the years they have shown us the positive impact playing football has on their lives,” said Jack Uppal, Vice President, Marketing & Customer Experience.
“The Chevrolet Starting XI contest is another way in which we are inviting children in India to know every moment matters. The contest will go live from tomorrow on our Chevrolet India Facebook page,” he added.
For the past two years India has been represented on the Old Trafford pitch. Last year, Sonu, 14, and Sharik, 13, served as the Chevrolet mascots. They joined eight other children from Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, South Africa, Thailand and the United States. Chevrolet chose these children because they embody the spirit of play.
Now through March 8, parents of children between 7-11 years old who visit www.ChevroletFC-XI.com can submit an inspiring story of 400 words or less about how football has positively impacted their child’s life. A panel of judges will select one deserving child from among all eligible submissions to be the 11th mascot.
As part of the Chevrolet mascot experience, the mascots meet Manchester United players and legends, attend Manchester United Soccer School and tour Old Trafford, among other activities.
The experience culminates in a once-in-a-lifetime moment when Manchester United’s first team are accompanied onto the pitch by Chevrolet mascots in front of approximately 75,000 fans in Old Trafford and millions watching via broadcast and streaming services around the world.
