Vishakhapatnam, 2nd February: In the last match of the first leg Bengal Warriors began the Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League Season 3 with a convincing win over Telegu Titans. It was a good performance by Bengal who played very well in defence and also did well in raids also.
In the first half Rahul Chaudhari and Nitin Tomar started the raids for Telegu Titans and Bengal respectively that went empty. Next raids by Sukesh Hegde & Mahesh Goud also met the same fate. Telegu Titans do or die raid by Rahul went empty getting first point for Kolkata. Do or die of BW Mahendra Rajput was captured getting Telegu Titans their first point. Then Telegu Titans took clear lead at 4-2, but Rahul was captured soon in his next raid to take the score to 4-3. Next Dharmarajan Cherlathan’s raid earned each team a point as he went out of lobby after touching a defender taking score to 5-4 in favor of Telegu Titans. Sukesh was captured in next raid to equal the score at 5 and Rahul Kumar got a lead of 6-5 to Bengal. Tomar was caught in hid next raid equalling the score at 6 in 13th minute. Rohit Baliyan earned a bonus point in next raid to take Telegu Titans to 7. After a technical break Rahul’s empty raid Bengal Warriors raider Mahendra Rajput was caught getting Telegu Titans another point. Rahul earned another point out of next raid with a fantastic escape. Kolkata’s raider earned next point to narrow the gap to 7-9. Rahul was caught second time in the do or die raid getting Bengal Warriors another point. The low scoring first half at 9 all thanks to Rajput’s successful do or die raid.
Tomar of Bengal & Sukesh Hegde made empty raids after the break. Rohit Baliyan earned 2 points for Telegu Titans in second raid after break. Mahendra Rajput earned one point for Bengal Warriors in the do or die raid to make score 11-10 in favor of Telegu Titans. Miraj Sheikh earned 2 points in his raid. Tomar got 1 point from a raid for BW. Nitin Tomar earned 2 points to equal the score at 13. Baliyan earned a toe touch point to take the lead for Telegu Titans. Rohit Baliyan was captured by single hand hold over waist to equal the score at 14 ten minutes before final whistle. Mukesh earned a touch point to take the lead. Soon Telegu Titans was all out after Prashant Rai was captured to give Bengal Warriors a big lead of 23-15 to Kolkata. Rahul Chaudhari was captured take Bengal Warriors score to 24.
Rohit Baliyan of Telegu Titans earned a bonus point that was challenged by BW and the review was successful so the point was denied. Mukesh was captured in the last raid and so was Miraj Sheikh captured in the final raid of Telegu Titans. Finally Bengal Warriors won the match 25-17. The main difference in the match was that Bengal Warriors had 11 tackles as against 8 of Telegu Titans and in raids also Bengal Warriors had the upper hand.
This ended in second loss at home for Telegu Titans. At the end of Vizag leg Telegu Titans (11) led the point table followed by Jaipur (6) and Bengal Warrior (5).
