After winning the tense battle against Pakistan, India would be rising high in confidence whereas for Sri Lanka it becomes an important game for them after a disappointing loss to host Bangladesh on Friday. A win for India will seal a place in the finals of Asia Cup 2016.
India is certain favourites, as they have recently registered a series win against Sri Lanka earlier in February. Sri Lankans would like their senior payers like Mathews, Dilshan, Herath and Chandimal to step up their game if they have any chance of beating India. Apart from few injuries to Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and MS Dhoni they have nothing to fear about. Virat Kolhi, the Man of the Match from the previous game is in terrific run of form. Yuvraj Singh also spent some time in the middle which would help his confidence going forward.
Team Preview – India
Recent injury to Rohit Sharma will disappoint India camp. Rohit Sharma has been the best T20 batsman for India over the last 15 months. India would be hoping he recovers quickly and is available for selections. The only worry for team India will be form of Suresh Raina, he is a very important player in the batting line up and India would certainly want some runs from him. Bowling department is looking settled fast bowlers are picking wickets with the new ball and spinners are picking wickets in the middle. Apart from bowling and batting India’s fielding against Pakistan was at its peak Jadeja and Virat got two crucial run outs. Overall India is looking dangerous side and beating them would be difficult task for Lankans.
Team News – India
Indian will be waiting for Rohit Sharma to clear his fitness before deciding the XI, if Rohit is declared unfit Rahane might get another chance in the team and Dhawan is likely to replace Rohit Sharma in the top. Dhoni is also not 100% match fit which might give chance to Parthiv Patel.
Probable XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma/Ajinkya Rahane , Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Hardik Pandya, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ravinder Jadeja, Ravi Ashwin, Jaspreet Bumrah, Ashish Nehra
Team Preview – Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka would be disappointed after Friday’s loss to Bangladesh. Dilshan, Mathews and Chandimal need to take responsibility and score big runs. Injury to Malinga has also hampered Sri Lanka’s chances. Chameera has been by far the best bowler for them and he would be looking to trouble Indian batsman with his pace and variations in speed. It will be tough task for Lankans but they need to be positive and play to their strengths. A win will be great morale booster for Lankans and would be important going forward in the tournament.
