Wonder Cement #Saath7 Cricket Mahotsav concludes in high spirits at Udaipur




Cricket might be a glamorous sport for many people but a cricketer always knows the inside story. It’s the domestic cricket that acts as a stepping stone towards success of any cricketer. Be it Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rahul Dravid or even the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, each of them knows the importance of domestic cricket. Wonder Cement Saath7 Cricket Mahotsav was truly one such great platform for the aspiring cricketers to transform their dream into a reality.

The inaugural edition of Wonder Cement Saath7 Cricket Mahotsav came to a close in Udaipur as MSG Club from Bikaner zone beats Pradhan Cricket Club from Udaipur zone in the final and were crowned the champions in the inaugural Wonder Cement Saath7 Cricket Mahotsav.

Shri. Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Home Minister of Rajasthan and Dilip Vengsarkar, Former Indian Cricket Team Skipper & Chief Selector were the chief guests at the concluding ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tarun Singh Chauhan, Advisor to Wonder Cement, said “Our agenda is that we will try and cover our markets very soon. We have started Rajasthan. This is a first time, the scale was so big and this is something I don’t think any brand have done it. Nobody does rural activation program with people participation. Every participative cricketer to feel like he is participating in a very big tournament.”

Commenting on the one year training program for the best players from the tournament, Mr. Vivek Patni – Curator of the tournament and Director, Wonder Cement Ltd., said “We have this Wonder Cricket Academy here in Udaipur where around 400 students being trained and all. So after this tournament we are going to pick four players – 3 boys and 1 girl. We are going to train them over here and you never know might play for India in near future.

What’s more stunning about this premiere rural cricket mahotsav was the fact that anyone can participate in the contest including the girls and aged people as well. It was a seven-over an inning, seven players per team cricket tournament which covered 248 Locations, 33 Districts and 9894 Villages. At the conclusion ceremony, prizes were awarded to the best players – Vikas (Best Batsman), Kamal (Best Bowler), Jaspal Singh (Best Fielder), Vandana (Best Girl Player of the tournament) and Sukhwinder Singh (Man of the Series). MSG Club, Bikaner – winner of the inaugural edition of Wonder Cement Saath7 Cricket Mahotsav received a prize money of whopping INR 3,50,000/- whereas Pradhan Club, Udaipur received a prize money of INR 1,40,000/-.

The main attraction of the competition was the All Women’s clash between Jai Mata Di and Maharani Cricket Club.

The Wonder Cement Saath7 Cricket Mahotsav was inaugurated by the cricket legend and 1983 World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev at a star-studded event held in November last year.

Wonder Cement has come forward to popularize cricket in the rural hinterland of the country and uplift the spirit of youths identified at grassroots level and groomed them for bigger leagues in the near future. With the inclusion of 5 more states, all eyes now on 2017 for the second edition of Wonder Cement Saath7 Cricket Mahotsav!
