India finally won a One Day International against Australia in Australia after losing 5 consecutive matches including World Cup Semi-Final. India needed young Manish Pandey to come good a score his career best score of 104 not out in a high scoring high encounter.
This was not first time Pandey scored runs on big occasion. The young super fit Pandey has done it several times in the past. Manish Pandey made a name for himself during the 2nd edition of IPL in held in South Africa, when he became the First Indian to score and IPL hundred. He scored an outstanding knock of 114 off 73 balls is his career-best score in Twenty20 against Deccan Chargers.
#2 – Ranji Trophy Final 2009/10 season against Mumbai
Karnataka after a disappointing first inning batting display were given a target of 338 to win in the Final of Rani Trophy 09/10 season. Manish Pandey scored an outstanding 144 of just 151 balls on a difficult pitch where every other batsman was struggling. Mumbai attack was consisting of experienced bowlers like Agarkar, Salvi and Powar. He made a name of himself as a big match player. Although Karnataka lost the match by 6 runs but Pandey’s 144 was certainly among the best Ranji Trophy innings of the past.
#3 – IPL 2014 Final against Kings XI Punjab
Kolkata Knight Riders purchased Manish Pandey in the 2014 IPL auctions and he didn’t disappoint. Pandey scored a match winning 94 of just 50 balls chasing 200 in the final of IPL 2014. Pandey helped KKR win their second. Pandey was declared Man of the Match of the Finals and he certainly played on of the best innings of his career.
#4 – Maiden ODI hundred against Australia
Finally the innings of his career so far, not because it was his first ODI century but because the time it came and helped India chased down the world record total. Pandey on Saturday scored a brilliant century of just 80 balls and helped India chased down huge total of 330. Pandey top the charts of least inning required by Indian to get an ODI hundred. Pandey achieved this feat in his 3rd innings followed by Kedar Jadhav who took 4 innings.
