Indian test captain Virat Kohli lauded BCCI for its unique concept of forming an advisory panel involving the fabulous three legends from the Indian cricket team. Yes, it is now confirmed that the God of cricket – Sachin Tendulkar, dada – Sourav Ganguly and very very special – Laxman will oversee all matters relating to Indian cricket for BCCI.
All these cricketers were very busy due to hectic IPL schedule over the last couple of months, but they have accepted their new roles at the beginning of this month. Currently Sachin Tendulkar is the mentor of Mumbai Indians and VVS Laxman is the mentor of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Likewise, Sourav Ganguly is a famous cricket expert. The IPL 8 final was recently held in Kolkata on May 25.
The level of expectation from the troika is huge considering India’s lackluster performance overseas and sad ouster from the world cup at the semi-final in the cricket world cup 2015. With the entry of Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman in the administrative role, it is anticipated that the future of Indian cricket is at the best hands.
However, Virat Kohli opined that “It would have been amazing if all four would have been on board. (But) he (Dravid) must have had some obligation or commitment. “If you have played cricket then, you have grown up watching these legends. It’s a wonderful thing to have happened and they will help us in many ways,” the dashing batsman added further.
The expected work profile of the BCCI’s star-studded advisory committee
The said committee will look after a lot of aspects surrounding Indian cricket. They will offer their astute advises as and when the board will need the same to tackle future challenges. BCCI will also sought advice from them while picking up the right players for foreign tours. This is the one section that the current team and the board will have to look into very carefully.
Over the last couple of years Indian cricket team has failed miserably at their overseas matches. Be it England, Australia or New Zealand, the outcome is the same. India have not been able to give their hundred percent outside the Indian subcontinent. Hopefully India’s performance will improve in the upcoming days under the guidance of Sachin, Sourav and VVS.
Team India will play against Bangladesh at their home later this month. It is expected that young players will grab the opportunity with their both hands and help the team win the series. It will also be a make or break chance for the veteran Harbhajan Singh in test. If he bowls well, then he can cement his place in the Indian test squad.
