India, May, 2015: In a unique running event in Mumbai, PUMA announced the 2015-16 running calendar for PUMA Urban Stampede – the popular race that travels to multiple cities across the country. The event witnessed 4 corporate honchos: Abhishek Ganguly [Managing Director, PUMA India], Amit Wagh [Managing Director, Accenture Strategy], Shayamal Vallabhjee [Managing Director, (The Heal Institute) and Arvind Krishnan [Founder, Runners for Life] team up against former international cricketer Jonty Rhodes, PUMA Running ambassador Lisa Haydon, golf superstar Sharmila Nicollet and ISL 2014’s Emerging Player Sandesh Jhinganin a 100 m X 4tag team relay at Priyadarshini Park in Mumbai.
PUMA Urban Stampede is India’s only national running property.The format targets working professionals and corporates for a 5kms X 4 participants relay run in the men’s, women’s and mixed category.Apart from the flagship relay run, there are also individual 5K and 10K races. The format encourages individuals to take up running with the distance being easy for maiden runs.
PUMA Urban Stampede has enjoyed unprecedented growth from the time of its inception. 2014 saw participation from over 7000 running enthusiasts.This year the event travels to 7 cities – Pune,Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad with Kolkata being the latest addition to the list. Kicking off the 2015-2016 season will be the Pune chapter on the 7th of June 2015.
