Chennai, May 7 2015 – 17 kids from Chennaiyin FC grassroots program have been chosen for the Reliance Foundation Young Champs selection camp.

Two hundred of the most talented children aged between 11 and 14 from different regions of India were selected from the grassroots selection festivals organised by the eight Hero Indian Super League franchises.
The selected children will participate in a week-long camp in Mumbai later this month. The best talent spotted during the selection camp will be awarded the Reliance Foundation Young Champs Scholarship.
Under the guidance of Chennaiyin FC technical director of grassroots Vivek Nagul and his staff, CFC conducted over 50 grassroots festivals, reaching out to more than 50 schools and around 15,000 kids. The festivals were not only conducted in Chennai but also in other parts of Tamil Nadu like Ooty and Coimbatore. Besides schools, Chennaiyin FC also reached out to kids of NGOs like ‘Magic Bus’ and ‘Slum Soccer’.
However, only the kids born in the years 2002, 2003, and 2004 were eligible for selection for the Reliance Foundation Young Champs. The final selection was conducted by Nagul along with several other coaches and volunteers, under the supervision of the ISL technical director of grassroots Piet Hubers at the training pitch of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on April 11.
