The search for Duncan Fletcher’s replacement has already begun, courtesy the BCCI. After India’s debacle at Cricket World Cup 2015, the board is looking forward to appoint an efficient coach of Indian Cricket Team, who is well familiar with the side. Meanwhile, media reports have started speculating over the issue that who will be Team India’s next coach. Amongst various names, Rahul Dravid and Saurav Ganguly are considered to be the front runners for the post.
Interestingly, none of India’s batting greats have come forward and applied for the post yet. The selection of Jagmohan Dalmiya as the BCCI head is creating some buzz about Dada’s possibility of becoming team India’s new coach in the near future. However, nothing has been announced officially until now.
The flamboyant left handed batsman is reported to have shown keen interest for the top post and expressed his desire to Dalmiya as well. It is important to mention here that Jagmohan Dalmiya was the former president of CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal). He shared a good rapport with India’s former test skipper.
Saurav Ganguly, who hails from Bengal, has a good prospect of becoming Team India’s new cricket coach. He had a rich experience of playing all formats of the game for the last one and half decade for India until his retirement in 2009. His aggressiveness on the field and ability to lead from the front will be plus point for the India’s young cricket team, if he gets the job.
According to sources, BCCI is also considering the name of Rahul Dravid for the post. India’s most consistent batsman is currently associated with Rajasthan Royals as a mentor. He is the best batsman to be given the job. The Wall is encouraging his young team (RR) to perform marvelously with very limited resources that they have. Apart from Steve Smith, Royals do not have a lot of big names in their side. Yet they are performing brilliantly in the IPL 8 so far.
Meanwhile, BCCI has also another plan on the anvil. The plan is to maintain a status-quo. Currently the Indian cricket team has a combination of a team director and a coach. If a high-profile cricketer replaced as Indian coach then the post of team director will might be annulled. Ravi Shastri is the current team director of Indian cricket team. We wish an Indian coach should be appointed this time. It would be fantastic.
