It is one of the rarest occasions in the history of the Cricket World Cup that India will play the game (Match 28, Pool B) with the festive spirit of Holi this Friday on 06th March at WACA in Perth. The nation has already started celebrating this colorful festival, but the real celebration will begin when India will beat West Indies.
On paper, India are definitely a formidable side, considering their depth in batting and bowling. Indian batsmen are in full form and bowlers are doing their jobs diligently too. West Indies will have to produce some extraordinary cricket to beat India in their upcoming clash. The men-in-blue are playing some magnificent cricket these days and remained invincible until now.
The West Indian skipper Jason Holder has been luckier to share dais with Dhoni as a member of the CSK team during his IPL stint. The tall West Indian fast bowler stated to the media in his recent interaction that he is a keen observer of the game and tries to learn something new from every player. The 23-year-old cricketer rose to fame in a very short period. He debuted in the year 2013 and played only 30-ODIs so far, but he is now leading West Indies in the ongoing Cricket World Cup.
India’s victory against Pakistan has been a morale booster for the team and since then men-in-blue have only kept the winning momentum going. Their victory against the Proteas had only added the further motivation and confidence to defend the world title. It would not to be wrong to say that India are the favorite to win ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
India’s mighty batting order can chase down any target and could also put a massive total on the scoreboard. The opening pair is set to be Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma in the upcoming match. Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni will play key roles in the middle order. It would be indeed an uphill task for West Indian bowlers to contain them.
Amongst West Indian batsmen a lot will depend upon Chris Gayle. He is the trump card. If Gayle gets the rhythm, then nothing in the world could stop him. However, he is a big wicket too. If Indian bowlers get him out early, then half of the battle is won straight away. It would be interesting to see whether India will continue with the winning combination or pick any new face. Indian bowlers including Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Shammi and R Ashwin amongst others will have to bowl well to pick some important wickets of the Windies early in the match to keep the match in India’s favor.
