If latest rumours are to be believed, then Force India seems to be in a struggle as they prepare for the start of the 2015 Formula One season. This year Force India missed the Jerez re-testing due to unexplained setbacks in the development of the car. It was later revealed by Ralf Bach, an insider that the team was facing financial difficulties. He also suggested that the delay may have been due to the fact that important part manufacturers may have not been paid. Bob Fernley, the deputy Team Principle has admitted that delay in the launch of the car is possible and that they were likely to miss the practise sessions.
Admits all the speculations, the team however, has managed to unveil their new Force India 2015VJM08 car for 2015 season just before the final pre-season testing at Barcelona. The Mercedes powered car was driven by Nico Hulkenburg around the track who is later expected to be followed by team mate Sergio Perez.
Nico Hulkenburg after driving the new car has reported that the outcome has been better than what the team expected. He also admitted that the late release of the car and lack of proper testing will affect the team in certain areas during race but feels that the team has a good car to compete this season. He further said that the car is very similar to last year and hence he feels comfortable and the team has certainly grown from where it left off last year.
The Sahara Force India Formula Team was set up by Vijay Mallya and Michiel Mol when they bought the cash strapped Spyker team in October 2007. It has been an uphill battle since then for the team and drivers. The team is based in Silverstone in United Kingdom and is one of the few teams who can boast of their own wind tunnel testing facility. Force India has been facing issues with their cars however they have managed to secure few podium finishes in the last couple of years.
The team may be facing financial hurdles however the team has stuck together and seems to be focused on working on the car. It remains to be seen if Force India can better their last year’s standing of sixth in the constructor’s standings finishing 26 points behind McLaren.
