Indian ace spinner Harbhajan Singh has come out in full support for his team mates and seems to be completely unperturbed by team’s performance down under. Harbhajan Singh has recently opined on his social media account that Rohit Sharma is a class player and if he gets the rhythm at the top of the order then he can single-handedly win matches for the team.
The worrisome performance of some of India’s leading batsmen in Australia was a matter of great concern back home but Harbhajan saw things in right perspective. The veteran off-spinner explained to a section of media in his recent interaction that India will bounce back soon. Currently India’s batting department rests with Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma on the top while Rahane, Kohli and Dhoni at the middle order.
While talking about Virat Kohli, the 34-year-old Punjabi cricketer sounded very optimistic. He is of the opinion that Virat Kohli plays really well under pressure. The flamboyant batsman already hit 21 tons in only 150 ODI matches that he played so far. Interestingly India won 19 out of 21 ODI matches at which the dashing batsman scored a hundred. Harbhajan Singh seems to be very confident about Virat Kohli’s good performance in the upcoming cricket world cup.
The magical off-spinner has also cautioned that India can’t successfully defend the trophy unless the bowlers rise up to the occasion and bowl at a perfect line and length. During the last cricket world cup held in 2011, Indian team consisted some of the leading bowlers such as Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh and Munaf Patel. They bowled consistently well throughout the tournament.
The bowling department at that time really clicked and eventually helped the team win the World cup trophy after 28 summers. This time India’s bowling performance will largely depend upon the seam and swing of current fast bowlers like Shami, Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Harbhajan Singh is hopeful that Indian spinners including Ashwin, Axar Patel and Jadeja will also get a good turn at pitches of Australia and New Zealand respectively. The senior cricketer has been a part of India’s world cup squad for the 3 consecutive editions of the trophy including two finals as well.
