Goa, 22nd February, 2015: The Cidade de Goa Open Tennis Tournament 2015 organised in association with the Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA) and Cidade de Goa will see the men’s singles finals being played today 22nd February 2015 between Newton D’Souza and Rachith Aiyappa. The finalists of the men’s single match will battle it out on the courts as the Goan tennis fraternity cheers them on.
The Cidade de Goa Open Tennis Tournament 2015 was presently underway at the tennis courts at Cidade de Goa. This year’s tournament saw over 70 entries from participants across age groups.
The tournament included ten categories – Under 12 (Girls and Boys), Under 16 (Girls and Boys), Men’s Singles, Ladies Singles, Men’s Doubles, Mix Doubles, Seniors Singles and Seniors Doubles.
The morning session between 8am and 10.30am will see the Mixed Double’s finals, the Senior’s singles final and the U-16 girls singles finals being played. The Seniors single finals will see Manoj pandey
take on Noel Noronha while in the mixed doubles Charmaine Godinho and Stendhal Pereira will play against Simran Khan and Santosh Gorawar. Ibtisam Shaikh will play opposite Saumya Sukhthankar in the girls U-16 category.
In an effort to encourage young players to take up the sports and enjoy it, a special U-10 tennis party has been planned for children aged below 10 years. Goa’s young tennis enthusiasts will have to opportunity to play a fun game of tennis with professionals players, try out their strokes and learn tips and tricks from the senior players.
The objective of the Cidade de Goa Open Tennis Tournament 2015 is to promote tennis and offer a platform to budding tennis players across the country. The tournament players were offered the tennis courts at Cidade de Goa.

For a state that has no tennis infrastructure, its overwhelming to see so much talent on the court. We truly appreciate the effort the members of the GSTA have put into organizing this tournament and the support from Cidade de Goa in particular.”
