The Australian speedster Sean Abbott is still under the trauma of the loss of his team mate Phillip Hughes few days back. It is indeed a huge loss for the game of cricket. The 22-year-old Abbott still can’t believe that his short-pitched delivery could bring to an end the life of his fellow colleague permanently.
Earlier at the start of this week the bowler practiced at the net session, but now what it seems apparent that the young, fast bowler will not play for his club in the upcoming match. He has officially declared that he will not participate in a club match for his team Sydney University this weekend. The buzz within the Australian media indicates that Abbott still needs a little more time to decide about his return to the world of cricket.
The cricket fraternity has wholeheartedly supported this talented medium pacer, but some of the cricket experts have opined otherwise. They felt that it would be really tough for the young cricketer to play at his best in the near future. Few of them are still doubtful of the fact that Abbott could ever bowl to his full potential after that deadly bouncer.
Most Cricket clubs in Australia were closed last weekend in remembrance to the cricketer Phillip Hughes. The Hughe’s Adelaide Grade Club, The East Torrens Cricket Club and many other such clubs are now slowly returning to normalcy. In fact, many of these clubs are observing a few minutes of stunned silence to mark the tribute to the 25-year-old late cricketer before the start of any match.
According to an official of one such club “Philips Hughes will always be remembered and playing in his memory is important for the club” he said. It is planned that the grade Cricket teams will honor Hughes with 63-Second of silences and black armbands for a few of the upcoming matches. It is also asked to the grounds men, that the ground should be painted with number 408 which was the baggy number of the talented left handed batsman who recently lost his life.
Sean Abbott had made his international debut a couple of months back in October this year. The Phillips Hughes incident has badly affected the morale of this promising speedster. Psychologists feel that this shocking incident will not let Sean Abbott to enjoy his game naturally for months together. However, earlier he returns to normal routine, it will be better for him to stay safe from any psychological damage.
The New South Wales chief has commented that “the whole nation is in the state of shock and so as Abbott. However, ultimately it is his decision that when he wants to play again. We will stand by his side” he said.
