Viswanathan Anand successfully beat the World Champion Magnus Carlsen in Sochi in Russia. The occasion was perfect and the Indian chess Grandmaster didn’t miss out any opportunity to trouble Carlsen in the third game of their world title match. In the previous match held on Sunday the whizz kid Magnus Carlsen defeated Anand in an emphatic manner.
The battle for the best between these two masters of the game began long ago, when the Indian legend had to lose the world title to Carlsen in 2013. This time Anand seems lots more relaxed, composed as well, notwithstanding the fact it was only his defeat the day before that prompted him to do well in the third match.
Pendyala HariKrishna who was watching the match very closely revealed to the media that Anand plays well when he is under the pressure. Such a situation brings the best out of him. On the contrary Carlsen believes in improvising his moves as per the situation of the game. Harikrishna is a famous chess player. He made headlines all across the nation when became the youngest grandmaster from India in 2001.
The world championship is now equaled between the both players. Each of them has one victory in their kitty. The championship is a series of 12-game match in which both Carlsen and Anand have 1.5 points each after the end of the third game. Surprisingly, in the last match, Carlsen defeated Anand in 35 moves on Sunday while Anand stunned the reigning world chess champion using 34 moves only.
What made this match more interesting was the fact that Anand’s queen had actively involved as a part of game strategy. The Norwegian took a lot of time to reply to moves from the Indian legend that substantiates the fact that Anand kept puzzling the 23-years-old throughout the game. Nonetheless Anand played at his ease and seemed in full command.
Eventually Anand moved forward his ‘C’ pawn to the second last row and put the game into checkmate. On realizing that was no escape route, Magnus Carlsen had to accept his defeat. Although the game has finished on a winning note for the Indian Grandmaster, but experts felt it could have been swayed to the other side if Anand didn’t implement his game-plans wisely.
What the players said at a press conference after the match?
A disappointed Carlsen appeared to the media at the post match conference and showered a lot of words for praises on Viswanathan Anand. The Norwegian said that he was fully prepared for the game, but Anand had completely outwitted him.
When the elated Anand was asked to react to his magnificent victory, he admitted the fact that he prepared well for the match. Anand practiced three to four hours before the match. From a fan’s point of view nothing more than this could be expected on a wish fulfilling day of 11/11/2014. Thank you Vishwanathan Ananad, Hats off to you.
