The latest press release of the ICC has announced a list of cricketers who have been made the ambassadors of the forthcoming ICC World Cup 2015. India’s dashing batsman Virat Kohli has successfully made into the list of ICC ambassadors for the upcoming cricket extravaganza. Kohli would join Mitchell Johnson, Kumar Sangakkara, Shane Watson and Kiwi opener Brendon McCullum as well.
The World Cup is the most prestigious tournament in Cricket. The upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 will begin from 14th February and continue for the next 45 days. The final of the tournament will be held on 29 March. Australia and New Zealand are hosting this edition of the world cup.
The ambassadors will participate in the ICC’s promotional events and (Corporate Social Responsibility) CSR programs as well. Ambassadors are expected to play active roles in promoting the tournament throughout February and March next year when the tournament will be in place.
Virat Kohli is elated to be a part of the venture and opined that it’s a proud moment for him to be selected as the ambassador for the ICC’s biggest event. He considered this to be the best option to spread the message of cricket to grass roots.
Australian all rounder Shane Watson is also very excited to be appointed as the ambassador of the event. He felt this to be a lifetime opportunity to play his third World Cup and is ready to participate in the coveted tournament as a member of Australian Squad. The 33-year-old is all set to play well in the forthcoming edition of the ICC World Cup to be played in Australia and New Zealand.
Mitchell Johnson is another Kangaroo cricketer who is among the group of five elite members promoting the unifying spirit of cricket throughout the globe. The Kangaroo speedster is also delighted at the buzz that surrounds the euphoria of the game among cricket fans in Australia and New Zealand. Johnson is hopeful of Australia’s magnificent performance in the tournament.
Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara will be playing his third World Cup in his illustrious ODI career. He said; “I am honored to be selected as an ambassador of the tournament alongside some other leading cricketers in the world. The former Sri Lankan ODI captain also said that he will do his best to support the community programs sponsored by the ICC outside the realm of cricket. Nevertheless, Sri Lanka are a good side and have been runner-up in the last two World Cups in 2007 and 2011 respectively.
The New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum has represented New Zealand at three previous Cricket World Cups and is very delighted to receive the great honor to represent the cricket’s biggest extravaganza as its ambassador. He is very optimistic about the ICC World Cup 2015. “The game will surely encapsulate the excitement of cricket lovers all over the world” He said.
