London, 10 August 2014: The second day of the Wave World Kabaddi League started with great excitement and enthusiasm today here in London at the O2 Arena with Vancouver Lions from Canada and Lahore Lions from Pakistan were at loggerheads to win the maiden match. This match was very special as Lahore Lions created a history by showcasing great sportsmanship and promoting strong Indo-Pak sporting relations by breaking the ice with the message of peace and togetherness. Both the teams’ showcased adrenaline rush moments, however Lahore Lions fared well by scoring 74-61 and won the match against Vancouver Lions.
The first quarter of this 3rd match of Wave World Kabaddi League, started with the actions of various experienced players of both the team who have already played for National Kabaddi teams of their respective countries. Very experienced raider of Lahore Lions Akmal Dogar looked much pumped up and attacking. Lahore Lions started the game with strong defence and attacking moves by their star raider Chisti and Akmal Dogar took the team in strong position. While the Vancouver Lions were seen struggling due to their weak defence and also the situation became troublesome for them due to one double touch foul. However star raiders of Vancouver Lions Sucha Singh & Sukhbir had been excellent. The 1st quarter ended with final scores of Vancouver Lions 15 and Lahore Lions 21.
The second quarter saw an aggressive fight between both the teams. The attack of Lahore Lions looked much planned as they played the game very strategically to keep the lead over Vancouver Lions. In an interesting raid Manpreet of Vancouver Lions was attacked by Lala who tried to interlock and put down but Manpreet got out from his clutches and successfully completed the raid earning a point for the team. Lahore Lions star raider Akmal Dogar was quick, agile, and unstoppable and reached back in the Pala successfully and comfortably after every raid. Lahore Lions remained extremely aggressive. They not only maintained the lead over Vancouver Lions but continuously tried increase the lead in the quarter. Star raiders of Lahor Lions Akmal Dogar & Abhidula Lala helped the team to widen the lead by 12 points in 2nd quarter. Strong raider of Vancouver Lions Sukhbir showed true sportsmanship by winning the last raid taking the score to 31-42.
During the third quarter Lahore Lions looked under little pressure as they gave few double touch fouls to opponents; however their star raiders Lahore Lions Shafiq Ahmad Chisti and Lala Abhidula continued their fabulous performance taking the team back in the strong position by hitting 50 points. Strong defence and technical move by the young players of Vancouver Lions seemed ineffective as Lahore Lions maintained a massive lead throughout the quarter. The 3rd quarter ended with final score of Lahore Lions 58 & Vancouver Lions 45.
The final quarter saw some exciting moments when Akmal Shajad Dogar showcased some brilliant raids and managed to escape from the stoppers of Vancouver Lions. In one of the raids Shafiq Ahmad Chisti was stopped vigorously by various techniques by Vancouver Lions but he managed to escape scoring points for his team. However Lahore Lions managed to take over the game from the very beginning and won the match with a difference of 13 points taking the final scores to 74-61.
