Wave World Kabaddi League: Khalsa Warriors wins against Vancouver Lions




New Delhi, 23 August 2014: Khiladi Kumar’s Khalsa Warriors registers their 3rd consecutive win by defeating Vancouver Lions by 67-45 in the 10th match of the Wave World Kabaddi League 2014 today here in New Delhi at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. Vancouver Lions has lost all the three matches in the league while Khalsa Warriors have won all of their matches and are sitting on the top of the points table.

The first quarter started off with much enthusiasm and excitement. The Khalsa Warriors raiders were as aggressive as before, breaching the wall of defense of Vancouver Lions at every attempt. The stoppers of Khalsa Warriors made their defense impeccable thereby grounding the raiders of the opponent team in most of the raids by Vancouver Lions. Right from the initial moment the Khalsa Warriors gained over the Vancouver Lions widening the points tally to 14 points. The final result of this quarter was at 20 -06 with Khalsa Warriors marching way ahead of the Vancouver Lions.

Khalsa Warriors kept dominating the second quarter of the match as well and kept scoring points for the team. In spite of good attempts and points scored by Sucha Singh of Vancouver Lions points went to Khalsa Warriors. Excellent raids done by Jasmanpreet Singh, Kaka and Gurmeet Singh made the position of Khalsa Warriors firm in the match and took the points tally to 38-20 with a wide margin of 18 points.

The 3rd quarter of the match was very exciting as Khalsa Wariors played in a much planned manner. It started with strong attacks and defences by both the teams. Vancouver Lions were seen much pumped up to take on opponents, as the strong defences of their star stoppers Jugraj Singh and Gagandeep Singh tried to slam down the attacks of Khalsa Warriors. But few strong moves by raider Manjeet Singh and Gurpreet Singh of Khalsa Warriors pushed their team back in strong position. The stoppers of both the teams Vancouver Lions and Khalsa Warriors were seen dominating each others. The final score at the end of 3rd quarter was Khalsa Warrior 51 and Vancouver Lions 34.

Khalsa Warriors maintained the lead in the fourth quarter as well and showed up some excellent raids and stops and completely took over the match against Vancouver Lions. Though desperate efforts were made by Vancouver Lions to bring down the lead but nothing much was done by them. Khalsa Warriors won the match with a margin of 22 points. The final score was 67 – 45 at the end.
