After a thorough selection process, 12 leading Cricket Academies from Mumbai were invited to participate in CIA’s U-12 Premier League 2013. The league is yet another tool of Cricket India Academy (CIA) to impart budding cricketers across Mumbai a platform to showcase their talent and skills as there are not many tournaments for this age group.
CIA’s U-12 Premier League 2013, which began on 30th April, has seen the participation from prominent academies in Mumbai, which included Worli Sports Club, MIG Gymkhana, Vengsarkar Cricket Foundation A, Vengsarkar Cricket Foundation B, Kandivili Youngsters, Chandrakant Pandit Cricket Clinic, Amre Cricket Clinic, Bengal Sports Lalchand Rajput Sports Club, Parle Tilak Cricket Academy, Police Gymkhana, Cricket India Academy and Mahim Juvenile Sports Clinic.
CIA offers cricket education to the age group between 5 – 16 years and its training academies are spread across India in Mumbai, Thane, Mangalore, Coorg, Rudrapur, and Raipur and are shortly coming up in Chennai and Hyderabad. The company’s target is to be present in most of the metros, semi metros and prominent cities in next 2-3 years. It has the exclusive master rights for Cricket Australia written Cricket Education Program (CEP) for the participant within the age group of 9 to 14 years of age.
Former India cricketer Mr Pravin Amre is CIA’s Coach Director, while former Australian fast bowler Mr Brett Lee is CEP Brand Ambassador. Former Aussie test player Mr Michael Hussey along with Australia women’s team players Ms Ellyse Perry and Ms Alyssa Healy are CEP Role Models.
Mr Arun K Khetan, CEO, SEDIL, said, ”CIA envisioned the development of this league tournament as we observed that currently only one such tournament catering to the segment of U-12 is being held in Mumbai. We feel a strong desire to execute this league to bridge the gap and leverage more enriching experience, imparting budding cricketers not only from its academy but across Mumbai including the CEP participants and imbibe it as a regular event in the cricket calendar of the city.”
Mr Nilesh Kulkarni, former India test player and the Chief Guest, gave away prizes to the winning team. He applauded SEDIL and CIA for the U-12 Premier League. “It is a fantastic opportunity for youngsters to play in such a professionally run League and gain experience.
