With New Year dawning up on us, football fans everywhere will be excited about the winter transfer window rather than the New Year.
With speculations and rumors flying around in every direction the next thirty days will be very important for many teams on how their season will end.
The names involved this time in the window are huge; ranging from David Villa and Wesley Snjieder.
It is common knowledge that Spain’s all time leading scorer David Villa is out of favour at Barcelona, the 30 year old still has a lot to offer and might be looking to move to a club that can offer him more game time and a central role. Villa’s problems with Barcelona began when he was moved to the left wing to accommodate Messi in the center. He then broke his foot and missed out on Spain’s successful Euro cup defense. Villa has made a lot of Cameo appearance and some rare starts this season and has impressed too. He has done more than enough to start a game but we are dealing with Barcelona and Villa failed to get ahead of the likes of Messi, Pedro, Sanchez and Tello.
It is said that Arsenal are interested in signing the Spaniard with Spurs, Liverpool and Juventus also monitoring the situation. Spurs and Liverpool are in need of another striker but it is unlikely that Villa will move to Anfiled unless his best friend Pepe Reina convinces him. Barcelona might also consider a loan deal for Villa so that he can get more game time.
Sneijder meanwhile has been axed from the team after he refused to accept a pay cut. Inter is another sinking ship and they needed the star player to cut his wages which he refused to do. He was omitted from the team since September. Manchester United were keen to sign him in 2011 and might consider signing him again. The Dutch ace will be a perfect addition to Old Traffor with Scholes aging and set to retire again and Kagawa injured. Spurs are also keen to sign him.
Former City and current Chelsea player Daniel Sturridge is now almost a Liverpool player, it is rumored that he underwent a medical at Melwood when Chelsea were trashing Aston Villa 8-0. Sturridge is set to move for 12m to Liverpool. Liverpool meanwhile are working on deals for English stopper Jack Butland and also to sign back their academy product Tom Ince. Ince is the son of former Liverpool player Paul Ince.
Chelsea meanwhile are ready to sign Senegalese goal machine Demba Ba. Ba has a 7m buyout clause. Arsenal were favorites to sign the striker but Chelsea have emerged as a late competitor. Arsenal haven’t given up on Ba and have stepped up their chase.
Chelsea are also reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid forward Falcao. Falcao won’t come cheap but it is highly unlikely that the Colombian would want to move now after his clubs terrific form in the league and Europa League. Manchester City are their major competitors.
Manchester United meanwhile are looking and Borussia Dortmund starlet Robert Lewandowski. The Polish forward might not move to Old Trafford with Rooney and Van Persie already being part of the team. United are also looking at Theo Walcott who is still not signing a contract with Arsenal. The Gunners will be making another big mistake letting Walcott go after his terrific performance recently for them. United are rumored to be offering Nani in exchange as part of the deal. Nani has fell out of favor at United and was initially rumored to be moving to Zenit St Petersburg.
Barcelona have stepped up their interest in QPR player Adel Taraabt, it is baffling why they need another midfielder when the likes of Fabregas and Song are on the bench at times.
Real Madrid are rumored to be in the market for defenders with Pepe reaching the 30s and Ramos being a bit inconsistent recently.
PSG will be happy now that their 40m signing Lucas Moura who is just 20 years old will now join the team.
Come January we are bound to see some shocking and heavily paid transfers. In 2011 we saw the big signings of Fernando Torres and Andy Carroll.
