AC Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani has confirmed the club’s interest in Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli and Real Madrid midfielder Kaka, if they are available for the right price.
Balotelli, who has always been a Milan fan, could return to Serie A if Manchester City drops their asking price. The 22 year old joined the English Club in 2010 in a transfer from Inter Milan and has had a turbulent spell at The Etihad since then. He has struggled to find form and his off field antics and unpredictable behaviour has brought him under constant criticism and has strained his relations with Coach Roberto Mancini.
The deal now rests on the English Premier League defending Champions’ asking price which was initially too high for Milan. Galliani in a quote to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport said that, “At the end of Friday, Manchester City still said €37m. We will see on Monday. Under these conditions, he will remain at Manchester City.”
But the recent reports suggest that Manchester City have reduced their asking price to €28 million in their desperation to lay off the Italian. This would seem as a tempting proposal for Milan and the move now looks more than possible.
The Italian’s agent Mino Raiola was also spotted at the Milan headquarters to discuss the deal.
The Rossoneri are also keen on bringing back their former midfielder Kaka from Real. The 30 year old had joined Madrid in 2009 after six successful years at San Siro but has struggled at the Bernabeu with only seven appearances in the season so far.
But again Milan require the Brazillian to reduce his salary in order to move back to Italy. Galliani said that the capture would be difficult and would require great efforts from all the parties involved.
“Everyone must make a great effort – AC Milan, Real Madrid and Kaka,” he said. “Much depends on (the player’s) economic sacrifice.”
It has been a difficult season for AC Milan so far with only 9 wins in 20 games. They are currently at the seventh spot in the Serie A standings, 17 points behind leaders Juventus and any sort of reinforcement would highly benefit the chances of the Italian giants.
