Mumbai, December 27, 2012: A seven day Kala, Krida and Sanskruti Mahotsav activity between 24 to 31 December is taking place in Panvel’s ‘Balasaheb Thackeray Kridanagri’ stadium. This Mahotsav will include various cultural and sports event, with preference given to all the sports except cricket.
Karnala Sports Academy Panvel, organizes a week long, 14th Kala, Krida and Sanskruti Mahotsav concluding on 31 December
On the inauguration of 14th Kala, Krida and Sanskruti Mahaotsav, 2012 MLA Vivek Patil said, “In India, cricket has been given a lot of importance, however, facilities or encouragement to other sports is not given at all. We are creating an opportunity to encourage other sports where Indian players can excel. We at Karnala Sports Academy have a vision to support such talent from Panvel and Uran Thaluka in Maharastra, who in the past have given splendid performance in National and International level. These children from rural India have the capability to participate in the 2016 and 2020 Olympic and win medals for India”
The Sports and Cultural event will see more than 17,709 participants in 41 sports category including, Badminton, Basket Ball, Body Building , Carrom, Chess, Karate, Swimming , Skating, Tennis, Table Tennis, Yoga, and other games. The event will also see approximately 6700 participating in various culture events.
The sports and cultural event has been graced by various politician including MLA Bala Nandgaokar, MLA Devendra Phadnavis, MLA Pratap Sarnaik, Senior Leader Shankarsheth Patil, BJP Maharashtra executive body member Balasaheb Patil, RPI Raigad District chairman Jagdish gaikwad, Shivsena Raigad District chairman Baban Patil , Former Mayor J. M. Mhatre, Former Zilha Parishad Chairman Balaram Patil, Pavel District Secretary Narayansheth Gharat, Rashtravadi Congress Panvel Chairman Sunil and others.
