With the winter transfers all set to kick off. January sees a lot of transfer rumors. The lush green grass of the Theatre of Dreams might be waiting for a new pair of cleats to step on it. Manchester United have been linked with both Lewandowski and Sneijder for quite some time now. United have enough resources and both the players are affordable as Lewandowski’s contract comes to an end this summer and Sneijder is stalling over contract talks with Inter, who want him to take a pay cut from his £200,000 salary, things can’t be much easier for Sir Alex Ferguson. The real question is whether either of them would fit into United’s style of play.

Wesley Sneijder:
The 28 year old is more of an unorthodox playmaker who can attack whenever required, his passing skills are not to be questioned. What Sneijder lacks is some serious pace and mobility. The attacking midfielder doesn’t have a physical presence too, which will make life tough for him in the premier league as he is injury prone.
Sneijder must naturally play the role behind Van Persie, which is already occupied by Rooney who has performed exceptionally this season. Unlike Sneijder, Rooney tends to play in deeper position and is mobile too. The Dutchman might strike up an understanding with his fellow compatriot Van Persie which might be a reason that’s urging Sir Alex to spill out the cash on him.
With the likes of Kagawa, Anderson and Nick Powell already on the bench and with age on his side united might seriously reconsider their option.
Robert Lewandowski:
The 24 year old is said to have guided Borussia Dortmund to the league victory last season, as a lone striker in the line up his growth has been phenomenal. His strong physical presence, great hold up play, aerial ability and clinical finishing makes Lewandowski the right replacement for Van Persie in long term.
But Lewandowski transfer seems a surplus to United’s demands, with United having Van Persie and Rooney as regular starters and Hernandez, Welbeck on the bench. The Polish International might not be a regular starter at united even if he is signed. Dortmund looks a better option for him as he starts a game when he is fit.
What United lack now is a quality 2nd winger. With Nani’s contract coming to an end, Giggs about to retire anytime soon and lack of form from Ashley young, only Valencia has performing well so far, Sir Alex might have to reconsider his options and splash some cash on buying a couple of wingers who are creative and pacey down the wing.
