The Kabaddi World Cup 2012 is going to be hosted by Government of Punjab (India) and is scheduled from 1st December to 15th December 2012.
The choice to host the third Kabaddi World Cup was taken to promote the game and enhance its potential of making it an Olympic sport. Sixteen teams will participate in the sporting event this year. The sixteen teams will be further divided into two pools with eight teams in every pool.

The event is comprised of league-cum-knock out stages wherein top teams from each pool will automatically advance in the semi-final.
The opening ceremony of 3rd Kabaddi World Cup will be held in Bathinda and Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will perform on the occasion.
The fifteen day long event will witness following sixteen nations participating:
- Afghanistan
- Argentina
- Australia
- Canada
- Denmark
- England
- India
- Iran
- Italy
- Kenya
- Norway
- Pakistan
- Scotland
- Sierra Leone
- Sri Lanka
- United States
Kenya from the African continent will participate in the event for the very first time.
The organisers will not entertain doping cases and will take serious action against those tested positive. The players, if tested positive, will be banned from the World Cup.
The Government of Punjab had organized the first World Cup in 2010 with Rs 1 crore as cash prize. In 2011, the second World Cup was also organized and the cash prize was doubled to Rs 2 crore.
