Gunners draw at Goodison Park

It was another draw for David Moyes men after they drew their 6th match of the last eight after finishing 1-1 at home to Arsenal. The scorers on the day were two players returning to the team after injury and suspension.

Walcott who missed two matches due to a shoulder injury opened the scoring in the very first minute after he ran all the way from the center and then passed to Welsh Man Ramsey who set him through. Walcott looped the ball over Howard brilliantly to give Gunners the early lead.

Walcott has been in good form for the Gunners now and they will be hoping that the England International who is yet to sign a new contract with them might reconsider his decision. He is also their leading scorer in Premier League now tied with their three summer signings Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla.

Everton were the better side though in the first half as they kept pushing for an equalizer with the Belgian Fellaini heading on at goal from a corner just to see Szczesny save it.

Arsenal were forced to make an early substitution after Koscielny injured himself and then was replaced by Gibbs who too was returning from injury. Vermalen then moved to his natural and preferred position at the center.

Everton scored the equalizer after Sagna who was under pressure made a hasty pass only to see former Everton man Arteta lose it eventually and give it to Fellaini. The Belgian then scored a low flying cross into the bottom left corner with his weaker left foot.

Jelavic then showed off some footballing skill after turning past Mertesacker by flicking the ball after Fellaini put it on his chest level. The finish by the Croatian was not as skillful as his turn.

Arsenal would have lost the match had it not been for Sczesney’s skills as the Toffees almost went ahead in the first half after a Leighton Baines corner was headed on target by Distin but the Arsenal goalkeeper made a brilliant save to keep the score level.

Then in the 63rd minute Everton were denied a penalty appeal after Pienaar was supposedly bought down by former Everton man Arteta. The referee denied the spot kick.

Arsenal then had a chance to go 2-1 ahead just after that after in form striker Giroud headed just wide off target.

The match shifted momentum a bit then and Howard was in the middle of things for a while. Everton though still had a chance to go ahead but Jelavic’s shot was off target in the 89th minute.

The result means Everton still sit in front of Arsenal but both teams drop a place down as Spurs win over Liverpool moves them to 5th. Everton are 6th and Arsenal in 7th.
