Mumbai, 12th October: The sports world was taken aback with sudden news of Saina Nehwal awaiting the outstanding amount of 3-4 Crore that she was supposed to get as part of her endorsement deal with the Deccan Chronicle. Moreover she even paid advance tax of Rs 70 lakh but is yet to receive the money from the company.
When asked about this, Vijender Singh, the Olympic Bronze medalist who changed the face of boxing in the country said, “It’s quite embarrassing to be caught up in this sort of situation but I hope things work out for the best for Saina. I have been with Percept Talent exclusively for very long and it’s been a very professional association.”
Saina had endorsed more than several products during her association with DC and the agreement was that the money would be routed to her account through her managers.
Sushil Kumar, another Olympic Medalist exclusively managed by Percept said, “It’s very disappointing to witness this sort of infringement in this industry. We athletes work very hard to make our country proud but at the same time we trust the people we are managed by. Even after years of working together I still share a very cordial relationship with the management and there have been no delays in any of my deliverables.”
