A new resident in the Villa has joined in! Paul Lambert has been confirmed the new manager of Aston Villa. He comes after Alex McLeish, who was let off after the team played their last game of the season. It was a very difficult one season to sustain at the club for McLeish, joining in from the bitter rivals- Birmingham City.
“The board of Aston Villa are delighted to confirm that Paul Lambert has been appointed Villa manager.”
There are huge hopes that are lined in with the entry of the new manager. Aston has gone in a secluded state right after Martin O’Neill left the team, two years ago. It is all hanging on to Lambert to revive the team back to the shape it was proud of.
He is the fourth successor to the team and in just less than two years. The compensation and other details of the post are still in talks. The confirmation of the player is all that was confirmed by the team;s official website.
“The next Norwich City manager will have a great squad of players, a robust and competitive budget and excellent facilities to work with – as well as the superb backing home and away of our fantastic supporters.”
The team that lets Lambert go, Norwich, expressed their heartfelt wishes for his new venture adding that his work and dedication would be sorely missed. Lambert was part of Norwich for three long years. Lambert had handed in his resignation just a week ago and he was appointed as the manager just 48 hours after the resignation was made. The confirmations however came in on Saturday.
Villa has had a rather slow and painstaking campaign for the West Midlands club which left them with two points clear the regulation zone, with 16 points. It will come as a straight challenge for the manager to revive the team’s position and play.
42 year old Lambert was a former midfielder who carved the way to Champions League with Borussia Dortmund in the year 1997. He has also been a part of Celtics. Though he will have to mold the team in magic with the work that the former manager leaves behind, Lambert is looked upon as an ideal candidate for Villa.
He will need to keep up his good records as well as write a new chapter in the new books for Villa!
