With years of perfectly done preparations, planning, constructing and coordinating is the ever-so magnanimous and exhilarating Olympics. The 2012 is all set to open in London, the 2016 has been taken over by Rio de Janerio and now the race starts for the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Sadly the honor of hosting the games will not be with Doha or Baku in the near future as both the cities have been cut off the possible venue list. The baton will either be passed on to Tokyo, Madrid or Istanbul, as announced by the International Olympic Committee. The Sport Accord Convention was held on Wednesday in Quebec City where the announcement was made.

Amongst the cities that were crossed off the prospective cities to host the Summer Olympics to be held in 2020 were Canada, Baku (located in Azerbaijan) as well as Doha. This was the second time that they were refused off the bid.

There was a report released by the committee that listed down the reasons why the cities were taken off the bidders list. Baku had been rather confident that it would be given a priority due to the spending capacity of the city (reference to the oil reserves in the nation) however the IOC clarified that the refusal came more then the spending power and that there were other reasons involved.

Gilbert Felli, the executive director of the IOC said:

“In July/August, people have more leisure/vacation time. There is therefore a risk that an October Games would become a ‘weekend Olympics Games’ and with a reduced demographic reach, broadcasters would have difficulties in attracting the same audience levels in terms of working people and youth.”

Other cities like Madrid have been in the running for more than once now and even after there have been speculations about its economy, it has survived the cut so far. Of course being able to host the games comes as a huge honor to any nation. The revenue generations, tourism increase, publicity as well as the developments that give a makeover to the area are all the advantages that the hosts experience.

Capitals put their names in the prospective list each time after another just so the next call can be theirs. All the cities that still have a chance of hosting the games await eagerly for the final decision to be announced.
