History repeats itself but in order for that to happen, it has to be written first. After a long stretch of 44 years, Manchester City clinched the English Premier League title after beating Queens Rangers by 3-2.
Amidst all the football frenzy, fan waves, drum roll and cheering, there were these two teams competing in the finals for that gleaming glorious trophy. Of course anything can happen in the finals. At one point it seemed like City would have to keep the waiting on as the favors were tipped the other side.
At the 39th minute, Pablo Zabaleta scored for City and it looked like their victory was getting closer but three minutes into the second half, Djibril Cisse leveled it from the QPR’s side and the match was yet again left into a deadly decider. Joey Barton was sent off in the 55th minute and for a while it looked like that would put the team into much discomfort but Jamie Mackie made sure that did not happen.
After that, it was the other way round. City’s chances were slipping away by the second and it may have become the first ever loss at home ground ever since December of 2010. Thankfully that did not happen. Edin Dzeko gave the team the CPR it needed and shot off a corner kick.
Time was slipping and both teams were moving stealthily and trying to think steadily. With the score at even numbers, the last few minutes were the tensest for the players and the people who still had one of their eyes peeking. Aguero drove City to victory with another goal, ending the season with the most thrilling kick and giving his side the relief that it needed.
It was too much excitement for City fans to even try to suppress. They poured into the field with the wildest, happiest expressions and hope they could carry their players on their shoulders before they ran out inside. Even though that did not happen, being in the winning field was all green for them!
While the bad blues sustain at the Madrid Masters, on the set of this sport, the better blue smoke was sent off as soon as the match ended and the fans ran inside as hysterical as ever.
And this is the recent history that will be remembered for all the matches to come.
