With the 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion, Manchester United thrones at the top of the English Premier League dethroning Manchester City, all thanks to Wayne Rooney. The grand win overcame their 1-0 loss at Swansea.
West Bromwich’s performances so far has been all upscale and Sunday’s match at Old Trafford was and proved to be a crucial one for United. Rooney ruled over the game with double goals that took the team straight to an easy victory. Rooney scored his 23rd goal into the season at the 35th minute. This powered up the team’s relatively slow progress at the beginning.
There are now 10 games left in the season and the Reds are making sure that all their efforts are put into the game. United lie at 67 points at the moment 4/7 (1.57).
Ferguson was undoubtedly happy with the way the team performed and said that they need to keep up the game in the last few remaining games of the season. They started out with a good line and they needed to finish with a better one.
“I hope it is a significant day. We’ve turned it around and credit to the players for that. We had a period of injuries but we have come through that now. We won’t get nervous, we have the experience, we will keep on playing, Ferguson said”.
At the other game, Manchester City was defeated by Swansea, which has been a much difficult team to tackle all throughout the tournament right in their debut. The results can lean to any side’s favor as to which team will eventually hold the cup. At one point, United rises above all and the other City drops from their higher stage.
Manchester City who are now second in the points table have to take over all the remaining games if they are to increase their chances of staying all clear. They will come head on with United on April 30th at the Etihad Stadium. Till then they have some work to do.
Their next match is against Chelsea, who have been struggling in the championship so far. But nevertheless they cannot be underestimated as they have a lethal striker who can turn the cards around in a flash.
The season is to end yet there is so much thriller on the grounds left to be devoured.
